Don't be misled by the crafty model nomenclature used on some niche-breaking luxury cars from Germany's finest nameplates.
For example, the Audi A5 Coupe is merely a two-door version of the A4 saloon. The same goes for the Mercedes-Benz E-class Coupe which has morphed from the C-class platform.
And now joining its bitterest of rivals is BMW, which has recently decided to mull the 4-series Coupe moniker as the sporty derivative of today's 3-series.
