Abhisit opts to stand trial in court

Democrat Party leader and former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Friday that he will report to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to acknowledge the charges on Dec 13 and was ready to prove his innocence in court.

He said this after accepting the department’s letter calling him to acknowledge the charges of authorising the killing of anti-government protesters by soldiers during the April-May 2010 violence in Bangkok.

The PT government and thaksin are not interested in having negotiations with AV or Suthep or the dem party at all. AV is too naive to dream about the negotiations.

Well done Khun Abhisit. You are upholding the country's justice system and showing The Man Abroad how all people should behave. You would not even have needed the army on the ground had many red shirts acted on behalf of the country and not a single runaway. Let's hear what Khun Noppadon, the paid spokesman, has to say but let's remember he's is very well paid to say it.

I predict the Army will soon be involved as when these kind of serious charges start flying, someone has to restore law and order. I felt allot safer in 2006 than I do now in 2012. Any rational person will understand these charges to be politically motivated no matter who the defendants happen to be. Why doesn't the PT and DSI find the killer of Seh Dang instead of a witchhunt?

Like Abhisit or not, the above is a real man's reply (from Thailand - not Dubai). Now compare that with Thaksin's replies and actions. When charged - run away. When fighting alongside his "brothers and sisters", doing so from a couch in Dubai :-)

Kudos to Khun Abhisit for not being bullied.
Thaksin's tactics have been well-demonstrated over the years - this move was always to be expected.
Let's hope the court (if it ever gets there) can remain outside Thaksin's sphere of influence.

AV has more integrity than the combined proxy government.

"Thaksin had previously tried to negotiate with both Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep on the issue, but failed, Mr Korn added".
AV has a moral compass and lives by it,so of course Thaksin failed on this issue like on so many others.

Well this will be an interesting trial. Not sure if accusing Thaksin will hold up in court as it will not be revelant to the charges and based on hearsay although it may gain a bit of public sympathy and with the PT holding a majority why would they need the DP anyway.

Great! At least we have one former PM who acts like a man to defend himself and who does not run away or blames everybody else. It’s good to see that there is at least one politician in this country who is a role model and who we can respect.
