"....evidence of the existence of different minerals that benefit health" ??? They probably mean different pollutants and toxic sediments in the sand deposits, coming from nearby rivers. And what about the sand lices and sand fleas? I know that the beaches in Chumphon are full of them and Ao Manao beach in Prachuab Khirikhan is also not free from these parasites!

This is yet one more manifestation of Snake Oil that was sold in the Wild West of the USA during the 1800s. The success of these enterprises depend upon the stupidity of their customers.

I think we all know that many massage parlors in Thailand are now called Spa to make this sound somehow better. Maybe the sand treatment comes together with a couple of pretty young girls who rub the sand over your body. I am sure some guys (especially Japanese men come to my mind) would go for that. TiT

If you look at most beaches in Prachuap Khiri Khan, what you see is serious neglect and water pollution. I suggest a treatment AFTER you take this “SPA” …

Just treat foreign tourist nicely and they will come to your place and spent their money which every locals wanted it badly

Maybe the next teatment will be building sandcastles...utter nonsense. But a fool and their money are easily parted... I don't know anyone in their right mind who would pay to be buried in the sand, and then rinse off in the sea.

By the way, Spa has been used as a generic term for somewhere that offers therapeutic water treatments since 1596, in Bath, so it's wider use is fairly well established.

    @ Discussion 1 (supermax):

As to the famous Belgian Spa waters: their history mounts back to the Ancient Romans (who called the site “Aquae Spadanae” (“Sprinkling Waters”), nowadays Spa, a small town in eastern Belgium) and they were the first mineral waters ever to be bottled (in the late 16th century).

In the past centuries Spa used to be the place to be for Emperors and Kings.

The English word “spa” is derived from “Spa”.

In Spa is also one of the eight legal casinos in Belgium.

AS I recall the beach at Kui Buri had a lot of mud in it. Not a fun place to swim.

D1, crawl back into your bottle, spa has been widely used for over 50 years for an applied health treatment, hot tubs, and a lot of scams, like the little fishes that eat your skin. This is simply the attempt to create a new fad to rip people off. This should be a viewed as a joke, FYI, SPA is also the short name for the famed SPA Francorchamps International raceway. Please do not complain if I might have accidentally spelled it incorrectly, I do not have the French characters oon this Keyboard
