Ethics probe sought on PM, Surapong

The New Politics Party on Wednesday asked the Ombudsman to investigate whether action can be taken against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul for "violations of political ethics" in returning the passport of fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Somsak Kosaisuk, head of the NPP, submitted the letter through the Office of the Ombudsman's spokesman, Raksakecha Chaechai.

Disc 26 - "Some men you just can't reach" You have probably managed not to reach anyone with your last post. Or is it just a "failure to communicate".

Disc 24 - "Thakin is free to travel the world BECAUSE he holds DIPLOMATIC passports". You are misinformed about Diplomatic passports and Immunity and should read the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. If the receiving state has not been informed about the appointment/nomination to a post in their country they can refuse entry even with a diplomatic passport. Diplomats usually carry credentials like a Letter of Nomination, a Letter of Credence and a diplomatic passport. Diplomatic passports allow transit through third party states in MOST situations but not all.

Thakin is free to travel the world BECAUSE he holds DIPLOMATIC passports from other foreign nations. Hence no country can denied his entrance. If he traveled with his Thai passport, no country would have let him in, many countries even revoked his visa before his Thai passport was terminated. If he traveled with a foreign non-diplomatic passport, most first world countries will not allow him in as he has a criminal record.

People are quick to forget when PTP took office, they magically made Thaksins arrest warrant disappear during a routine DSI computer system update, hence Surapong was able to reinstate Thaksins passport.

New Politics Party should better focus on people's problem instead of concentrating only on power struggles. Typical of all the political parties in our country though. They run for themselves and their cronies.

Disc 17 - Do you really think that Customs and Immigration officers in developed countries don't know who Thaksin is no matter what passport he's traveling on he's a recognizable figure. If George Bush visited Germany with a Chinese passport would the customs guy just say, " Welcome to Germany Mr. Chow have a nice visit"?.

Return of the thai passport gesture has frustrated those thaksin-haters deeply. But unfortunately there's nothing they can do to object the government's administration.

took them 4 years to file this nonsense/harassment/time and money wasting suit, I guess they just needed to see themselves in the news.

To Ricefield, Dis 16: "What other countries would or would not do if Thaksin was their PM is totally irrelevant, as he's Thai, but one thing is a certainty your home country wouldn't have overthrown him with a coup now would they."

Good point. Your country probably wouldn't have been naive or ignorant enough to elect such a person hence no need to remove him by coup or other means - admit it now, you wouldn't have voted for such a person if he was running in an election in your own country would you?
