Petition on Abhisit's MP status 'lacking'

The petition by 134 MPs asking the Constitution Court to rule if Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva forfeited his MP status when he was sacked by the military is incomplete, the court announced in its regular newsletter on Thursday.

The petitioners must provide more legal reasons to support their case, the court said.

The petition, and the 134 signatures, was forwarded to the court by House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont.

ricefield #17 - You are very right. Thanks for alerting about my mistake. I was hurrying to catch a plane and did not check. THANKS.

For the first time ever,I fully agree with D9 & D11,though I doubt it's for the same reasons.

Disc 16 - Sorry Boontong, I regret to inform you that you are incorrect. He didn't refuse to clarify the documents and go to the Administrative court. He refused to clarify the documents and went to Hong Kong on the day of the meeting. Then he went to the Administrative court which doesn't have jurisdiction over military matters anyway. Otherwise you are quite correct.

englishbob #12 - AV was found guilty of draft-dodging and used fake document to apply for a teaching job. He was given opportunities to clarify the documents but he refused. Instead, he went to the Administrative court appealing the striping of his rank. I does not matter what AC will rule. He is still guilty of draft-dodging. Investigation has to be started and continue to escalate because AV filed defamation lawsuit against Jataporn. It was then surfaced that AV was guilty of draft-dodging.

Discussion 1 bkk-farang : "Would the red shirts complain if he would give advice to the members of the DEMs?"
But the dem, PAD, Pitak Siam, Multi-colour, and even the army chief are all complaining thaksin for his giving advice to the PT government.

Disc 5 - That provision was changed in our new and improved constitution. Now you only have to hold Thai citizenship rather than be "Thai Born". Well... Legally you can't have dual citizenship... BUT... as usual it's not enforced thankfully.

Disc 7 - "Is it a prerequisite ... to run around in the mud when ... teenagers?" Yes it's the law and it always has been the law. Unless you serve during high school as a reservist, or you have a deferment, or you enlist, or you get a reduction because of education (on a deferment)or you are exempt (medical etc). Don't expect you to know but all Thai males do.

Should AV’s MP status be revoked on this flimsy allegation, perhaps this will set in motion a precedent for most MPs’ status to be revoked on the same rationale that they allegedly broke some previous laws. Be careful what they asked for because this issue may return to haunt them. Maybe setting this precedent is a blessing in disguise if this will ensure that future MPs are squeaky clean. Of course I will have my doubters on this issue but one can only ‘HOPE’ for the best and prepare for the worst.

Disc 6 Boontong - You should do some research before you comment (you might stop supporting PT). Abhisit wasn't 'convicted' of draft dodging. Sukumpol appointed cronies to a committee with the sole purpose of stripping Abhisit of his rank.

The decision was based on the fact that Abhisit couldn't produce the ORIGINAL document from 25 years ago (Do YOU keep 25 year old documents?). There was a copy document with an incorrect date. (Oddly enough, there were TWO cases of incorrect birth dates on birth certificates at the same time. So a clerical error is quite possible).

If that's the worst PT can invent, Abhisit is a SAINT in Thai politic

Disc. #8 "The Constitution Court will be AV side."

    Yup

    Never any doubt about that.

"The court newsletter said only the Defence Ministry's order was attached to the petition, which did not provide FACTS or any other information about Mr Abhisit".

This is normal practice for PTP/UDD and Red Shirt supporters. I'm not even sure they know what facts are or their relevance in cases like this one.
