A red shirt leader in Phayao on Sunday said his group’s installation of a roadside marker which contains a message that reads “red-shirt district” near the entrance to Chun district of the northern province was only a symbolic political gesture and not meant to be taken as an official marker.
The roadside marker that states that Chun district in Phayao province is a “red-shirt district” can be seen clearly by motorists.
Thanapat Chaichana, leader of the red shirts in Phayao, was speaking after Democrat deputy spokeswoman Mallika Boonmeetrakool claimed 500 residents in Chun district were upset by the marker and had lodged complaints with her.
