Pracha Maleenont, the former deputy interior minister who fled a jail sentence for corruption in the purchase of fire trucks and boats, has assigned his lawyer to appeal his conviction.
Pracha’s lawyer lodged the appeal with the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions on Monday.
On Sept 10, the Supreme Court found Pracha, of the Channel 3 Maleenont family, and former Bangkok fire chief Athilak Tanchukiat guilty in absentia for their roles in the 6.687-billion-baht fire truck and boat procurement deal.
