Large numbers of tourists have cancelled their trips to Krabi province after a video clip emerged as a sign of protest against provincial authorities who gave bail to a man accused of raping a foreign woman in Ao Nang.

Ithirit Kinglek, head of Krabi’s tourism authority, said the video clip called Evil man from Krabi which has circulated on the internet for about two weeks has affected the province’s tourism industry.

i hear now the thai authorities want to block/ban the video in thailand!
Well sorry its too late i see it on youtube and fb already, i have thai FB friends!
Hope obama mentions things like this on his visit, not just the rice scam!

The rapes, beatings, muggings etc. are no different in Thailand than in the rest of the world. What is different is the authorities' reaction to these crimes where a foreigner is involved. The world is now a smaller place than Thailand thinks. Thailand can run but it can't hide.

I had bad time in krabi I fears for my safety the local is not the friendly and want to rip you off I wouldn't recommend the place to any of my friend and family

This is a common story all over Thailand. Hard to enforce the law when the police and politicians are so corrupt. Corrupt police are the #1 problem in Thailand today.

such a shame that people don't actually look where it is they are going to.. I've met countless people here whose only interests are "a beach preferably with a bar on it / next to it".
Thailand IS a lovely country with lovely people, & the TAT shows this (like it should). In my opinion the further south you go the more pricey & westernised it is. Some of the southern locals yearn for expensive luxury items, & unfortunately they price fix & run any amount of scams / rackets to make the cash to buy them.

If only people would set their sights beyond or away from these parts maybe criminals there would be more inclined to work & not steal

I lived in Ao Nang in the early 90s. It is, by far, my least favorite place in all of Thailand because of the locals. This story does not surprise me at all. I expect this criminal to get off completely.
