It didn’t take long before the latest fad known as planking came to Thailand.
It has become so popularso quickly partly because it is so easy, but mostly because of the internet.

Not surprisingly, this is something celebrities love to get involvedin. Of course, one of the first to post a planking photo here was politician Chuwit Kamolvisit who demonstrated his skills while he was electioneeringin Si Racha, Chon Buri.
Party-list candidateChuwit Komolvist was quick to post this planking photo on his Facebook spate
Not far behind was actress Patcharapa ‘‘Aum’’ Chaichuea, who was pictured in Thai Rath suspendedboard-like in the arms of actor Nawat ‘‘Pong’’ Kulrattanarak.
Soon, an internet forum had gathered images of up to a dozen local stars planking in unusual places, including the top of a bus, a seat in front of a 7-Eleven, and a patiotable.
Within a day half a dozen media outlets had picked up on the story, publishing images of ordinaryThais planking in the middle of a busy street, on a public stairwell at a massaerobics session on top of a pavementsign, outside a bank and on a Skytrain platform

Teenagers are the most avidplankers and that has upsetculture watchdogLadda Tangsupachai.
She says teens are likely to choose ever stranger and more unusual places for their planking exploits, which could put their safety at risk
Don’t get carried away as you plank, said Ms Ladda. ‘‘You might see your idols planking, but don’t rushto imitate them, she warned.
I don’t want tragedies to take place because of some fad’’
