เดลีเมล สื่อแท็บลอยด์ชื่อดังของอังกฤษ เปิดเผยว่า ประธานาธิบดีบารัค โอบามา แห่งสหรัฐ ได้ขอพรพระสุธีธรรมานุวัตร ผู้ช่วยเจ้าอาวาสวัดพระเชตุพนวิมลมังคลารามราชวรมหาวิหาร ระหว่างที่เดินทางเยี่ยมชมวัดพร้อมฮิลลารี คลินตัน รัฐมนตรีต่างประเทศ เมื่อวันที่ 18 พ.ย.

รายงานระบุว่า ทางคลินตันได้กล่าวถึงการเจรจาผ่าทางตันหน้าผาการคลังหรือ "ฟิสคัล คลิฟฟ์" ของประเทศระหว่างที่เยี่ยมชมวัดโพธิ์ หลังจากนั้น โอบามาได้หันมาคุยกับพระสุธีธรรมานุวัตรว่า "ใช่ครับ เรากำลังหารือเรื่องการตัดลดงบประมาณอยู่ เราคงต้องพึ่งสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์"

Revealed that Obama asks Buddhist monk's  blessing for success in fiscal discussions

A foreign media outlet has revealed that (President) Obama asked for a monk's blessing during his visit to Wat Pho, hoping it would help the fiscal cliff talks to succeed.

The Daily Mail, a high-flying British tabloid,  has disclosed that US President Barak Obama asked for a blessing from Phra Suthee Thammanuwat, the assistant abbot of วัดพระเชตุพนวิมลมังคลารามราชวรมหาวิหาร Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimol mangkla rarm  Rajwara mahaviharn (Wat Pho), during his temple tour together with Hilary Clinton, the Secretary of State, on November 18.

The report said that Clinton had mentioned the negotiations (being held) to break the deadlock over the country's financial cliff or 'fiscal cliff'  during the temple tour. After that Obama had turned to Phra Suthee Thammanuwat saying, “Yes, we’re discussing the budget cuts. We’re going to need help from things sacred.”
