H Gallery Chiang Mai presents "Rituals of Exhibition II", an international exhibition by Light Space Projects, a non-profit visual arts venture established in Thailand in 2010.
Working with numerous emergent and established artists, "Rituals of Exhibition II" builds on an earlier project with Chiang Mai University and explores how complex forms can be developed from the principles of abstraction, or so-called reductive modes in art practice.
The exhibition also points to aspects of relational art as the works on show invite engagement with an idiosyncratic web of interconnections.
Light Space Projects focuses on site-specific installations and exhibitions aiming to connect diverse and international artists in collaboration with universities and experimental exhibition spaces. The venture is particularly concerned with encouraging a greater awareness of contemporary art in the Asia-Pacific.
Its activities have included educational and residency projects with Chiang Mai University in 2011, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang and the University of Phayao, both of which took place last year.
Exhibitions include Gallery Seescape Chiang Mai in 2011, SNO Gallery Sydney in 2011 with Thai, Australian and Korean artists and Northern Lights focusing on Thai Contemporary Art in 2012 at Artereal Gallery in Sydney.
"Rituals of Exhibition II" will be on show at H Gallery Chiang Mai from Sunday until Aug 25. Call 085-021-5508 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
