Entries for the ‘Keep Udon Tidy 3: Scrap Lap Contest’ should be made by July 31.
Young and creative students with green hearts are invited to come up with seating designs made from scraps.
Up for grabs will be a trophy from HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha and cash prizes worth 100,000 baht in total.
Organised by UD Town, a lifestyle open-air mall in Udon Thani province, the "Keep Udon Tidy 3: Scrap Lap Contest" is open to high school and undergraduate students who can enter as individuals or in teams of no more than five.
They are required to design outdoor seating, a single chair or a set.
They must be hand-crafted from waste materials at construction sites, manufacturing facilities or local communities.
The designs must show how they add value and can be commercially produced in order to generate income for the community in the future.
The winning teams in the high school and university categories will receive a trophy from HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha, plus a cash prize worth 20,000 baht for the former and 30,000 baht for the latter.
Contestants must submit their designs in soft files (CD/DVD) for pre-qualification within July 31.
On Aug 15, 10 teams successful will be announced and they will be given 30 days to transform their designs into reality. Winners will be announced on Sept 20, which is the National Youth Day.
