The Sukosols will perform during the ‘New York, New York’ charity concert at The Sukosol from Aug 1-3.
Thailand's first lady of swing music, Kamala Sukosol, will join her family on stage for three nights in the latest instalment of their annual charity concert extravaganza.
Organised by Sukosol Productions, the Thai Red Cross Society and Singha Corporation, the "New York, New York" concert will take place in the Kamolthip Ballroom of The Sukosol on Aug 1 and3 at 8pm and Aug 2 at 7pm.
As in previous years, the concert will be packed with wonderful entertainment by Kamala, president of Sukosol Hotels, and her talented family members - daughters Marisa and Daranee, granddaughter Natalia, and sons Sukie and Noi (Krissada).
Joining the Sukosols on stage will be a 20-member big band orchestra under the direction of Piti Kayoonpan, regular special guest Dolchai Boonyaratavej, outstanding artists from the Aree School of Dance Arts, with guest choreographer Eiko Asakawa, and a 10-member chorus group conducted by Tanee Poonsuwan.
This year's concert will pay homage to New York songs and performers.
The audience will be treated to classic Broadway hits from Les Miserables, The Phantom Of The Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Wicked and Chicago.
Highlights will include Kamala's new version of New York, New York, accompanied by the high-kicking Rockettes and Psy's Gangnam Style. The songbook will include modern hits Girl On Fire and We Are Young. As New York is also the fashion capital of America, the night will feature a spectacular designer show from fashion house Hook's by Prapakas. There will also be a surprise from Noi who will reveal his new dance moves.
All proceeds from the concert will go to the Thai Red Cross Society's Princess Sirindhorn Chulalongkorn Craniofacial Center which provides free operations and care to underprivileged Thai children with facial deformities.
Tickets for Aug 1 and Aug 3 cost 1,000, 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 baht (500 baht for students) and 40,000-45,000 baht per table of 10 for the gala night on Aug 2.
