Hua Hin is bringing back the triathlon, which expects to attract at least 500 racers from around the world to showoff their athletic prowess on Aug 25.
Held for the fifth year, the Queen’s Cup Hua Hin International Triathlon 2013 is at Olympic standard with a total distance of 51.5km. This consists of 1.5km swimming, 40km cycling and 10km running. There is also a duathlon which includes a 5km run, a 40km cycle and a further 10km run.
Set to be one of the largest triathlons in Southeast Asia, the competition is held to celebrate Her Majesty’s 81st birthday and their Majesties’ commitment to sports.
The venue for this year’s event will be the Black Mountain Water Park.
The triathlon is open to all men and women above the ages of 18, who can enter individually or in teams of three.
The duathlon, however, is open to individual men and women above the age of 16.
There is also a youth triathlon for boys and girls in three categories- a 100m swim, 5km cycle and 1km run for kids between the ages of seven and nine; a 200m swim, 10km ride and 2km run for kids between the ages of 10 and 12; and a 400m swim, 10km ride and 2km run for those between the ages of 13 and 15.
The registration fee for both the triathlon and duathlon is 1,500 baht for Thai racers, 2,500 baht for foreigners (5,000 baht per team for triathlon) and 600 baht for children.
Registration should be made by Aug 16. Call 081-845-3558 and 081-838-0963, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.321yell.com.
