THE WORD: GATE CRASHER
Welcome to Guru 's Gate Crasher, your ultimate guide to finding something fresh to do in this big city.
Launching the grassroots-style Fu Fu International Art Theatre Festival tonight (Aug 23) is BKK Underground, a short study (45 mins) about society's battle with propaganda and manipulation inspired by Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Rough Theatre plays. It will be staged for three nights (Aug 23-25). The festival itself aims to address the connection between theatre and art - put that in your creative fringe pipe and smoke it. Seats are limited to 23 each night (087-697-4806 for reservations). Venue is All Soul (302/1-2 Srinakarintara Road, 02-721-5625), at 8:30pm.
More daytime fun will happen on Sun (Aug 25) at Backyard BBQ (084-355-1966). Part networking event, part chill out, the party will feature tasty treats from the grill, B100 beers and motown sounds courtesy of Bangkok resident DJs. Might be a decent meet and greet if you're in the area. Run time is noon to 7pm. Venue is Indus (71 Sukhumvit Soi 26, 02-258-4900, facebook.com/indusbkk). Free entry.
