Unlike most mothers, Assist Prof Dr Pirongrong Ramasoota was reluctant to speak about her children when Muse approached her for an interview. Modest and sensible, she confessed she has never been a good mum and consequently could not be an exemplary case for other parents.

"Life as a mother is like a roller coaster. It's full of ups and downs," said the 45-year-old lecturer at the Department of Journalism in Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Communication Arts. "And my son can never be a good example in terms of children with successful development."
