Jordan Tourism Board managing director Dr Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat is adamant about seeing more Thai tourists visiting his native country. He says Thais are open to new experiences and are broad-minded people with a sense of adventure.
Based on travel statistics, the number of Thai visitors to Jordan has jumped about 63% from 4,900 visitors two years ago to 8,000 last year. Although the numbers are still small, Dr Arabiyat sees great growth potential.
"The Thai ambassador to Jordan has done a wonderful job in promoting Jordan among his people. The steady growth in numbers is due to his hard work. He is working with the Thai private sector to introduce Jordan as a meditation destination," Dr Arabiyat said.
