The Cambodian Space Project's eagerly awaited third album is "in the can", according to leader/guitarist Julien Poulson. The band spent part of the summer in Detroit and just finished recording the new album in the city that gave the world the "Motown Sound".

Since forming in 2009, the Phnom Penh-based band has released two previous albums on the Hong Kong label, Metal Postcard, and have been to more than a dozen countries playing their original songs and covers of classic Khmer pop from the 60s and early 70s. A highlight of the band's recent activities was performing at the London Olympics as part of a Southeast Asian orchestra, which included the Indonesian band SambaSunda, set up by producer and former 3 Mustaphas 3 bassist, Colin Bass.
