The curtains have closed on another successful Elle Fashion Week, one of the events that definitely sets the fashion and beauty trends in Thailand. This year, make-up ranged from Barbie doll girlish to exotic glamour, not to mention a few not-very-wearable funky ideas such as the ghastly black-and-white make-up sported by Curated by Ek Thongprasert's models.

Pichapat Kutpan, Bobbi Brown's make-up artist, said the autumn/winter trend this year is all about matte, clean and natural skin. "Gone are the days when women spent hours contouring and shading their face to create dimension. Natural structure is definitely the trend, and it is a convenient trend that we can wear every day," said Pichapat.
However, there are some brands that prefer the extra glossy, doll-like look. Tutti's look is inspired by Barbie doll, so the face is ultra shiny, creating an endearing, youthful glow. This look, however, is quite tricky for everyday wear, as in this weather you can easily go from glossy to greasy.
Pichapat said that another trend is the monotonous look, in which only one colour is used on the whole face. "It looks like you just grab one colour and use it as a lip colour, cheek colour, and perhaps even eyeshadow. This, again, makes life less complicated!"
Bold lips are also a big trend, and the most popular colour is deep red in a matte texture. While usually recommended paired with a clean look, Pichapat said it could also look good with strong eyebrows to create a nice mix of masculine and feminine. For a more casual look, Pichapat recommended the stained lips effect, which can be achieved by using your finger to pat and smudge the colour on the lips.
As for eye make-up, find the right match for the lips. For example, if your lips are bold, keep the eyes simple and subtle. For nude lips, you can go with smokey eyes. This season's smokey eye plays with brown, navy and grey instead of the traditional black.
Strong eyebrows and a masculine look are also paired with confident, sexy outfits. Pichapat explained that strong eyebrows does not mean black eyebrows - it simply means using the same colour of your natural hair, and applying one single colour on the eyebrows. It also does not mean you have to wear them chunky.
"Your eyebrows are one thing that should not be determined by the runway. You can use the runway look as an inspiration, but at the end of the day, your facial structure is the main point to consider. Runway doesn't mean real way. Sometimes it can look good on a model but unnatural on your face.
