Controversial badminton duo into China semis

China's controversial women's doubles pairing Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli swept into the China Open semi-finals Friday in their first tournament together since being kicked out of the London Olympics for playing to lose.

Yu retired in disgust over the Olympics row but, returning to action for the Super Series Premier event in Shanghai, combined with Wang to dispatch Japan's Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi 13-21, 21-9, 21-16.
