Brit drowns as tourists flee Thai gang

CHON BURI – A tourist has drowned after jumping into the sea in Pattaya to escape a local gang that was pursuing him and two friends.

Police and rescuers, reacting to reports of the incident, found the body of Patrick Lawrence Molloy, 28, a British national, according to Khao Sod.

A fisherman pulled his body out of the water and tried CPR on him, but it was too late, according to the report.

Bar fights? Many places in the world. When a person dies it is self defence, manslaughter or potentially a homicide. Legal decide that. Ricardes and Onlyasking have the answer? Don't start a fight for sure, criminals who have spent time in jail not allowed into the country? You have "convicted murderers" who are somewhere on bail plus others and you say that some "should not have been allowed into Thailand." Look at the mess in Pattaya and tell me who needs to be not allowed in Thailand.

absolutely disgraceful, feel so sorry for the victim's family. And it is almost certain that it was caused over some "nothing incident" and got completely out of hand.
Pattaya these days is a really grim, dangerous place. Aside from the plainly obvious i am at a loss to understand why else people would go there.. It is not real thailand at all

Two were convicted criminals and having spent time in jail should not have been allowed into Thailand

Witness said that "Both groups of men appeared drunk." An observation that may have merit. Doesn't matter, IMO. Someone may have upset the other and the outcome is a dead person. Pattaya may be ideal for some but the crap that goes on there unchecked is awful. Where are your stats on diminished scams, mafia crackdown, etc. Mr. Chalerm? Sorry for these folks who had the experience but you best be aware of your surroundings no matter what country you visit.
I assume that the cops offered to take them for medical as well as to their hotel. No words on the "Thai gang"? Trust the there will be an update by BP soon

Though the reasons for this is not known yet,it shouldn't be necessary to hunt people like this. Sometimes I can't recognize the country I arrived to almost two decades ago. What is happening to you,Thailand?

Assumptions don't amount to much more than a guess but perhaps with this location the BIB might start with talking to the local jet ski operators.

This is not the full story. The tourist was drunk and looked for a fight with local people. Read the full story on www.pattaya103.com.

If the survivors were in shock, why were they not taken to hospital? If they were not in shock why were statements not taken immediately?

Foreign Embassies often post warnings on visiting Thailand during Thai political turmoil. The palpable daily increase in criminal activity towards foreigners by Thais and the inaction and inability of the police certainly warrant a warning on the criminal turmoil also!
