Boonsong: G-to-G rice deals secret

Fine details of the government-to-government rice sales are confidential and not for public release, Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom said at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

The information could not be disclosed as it could affect the rice buyers, because rice is a politically sensitive commodity, he added.

Mr Boonsong said altogether 7.3 million tonnes of rice were sold through the G-to-G deals and the buyers included Indonesia, China, Philippines, Bangladesh and Ivory Coast.

'The minister insisted that the government has not monopolised the rice market as alleged'.

Thaksin/PTP are buying every grain of Thai and maybe other countries' rice at way over the odds is not monopolizing ??

Some transparency! They dump rice at very cheap price or they cream off the top. Take your pick. Still a big loss to taxpayers.

It is only secret if there is graft involved. It is that simple. This scheme is exactly as the name implies, a 'scheme.' Where I come from a scheme is most often thought of as an underhanded deal. I cannot understand how Thai's accept and actually like this sort of life.

What secret ? Only the amount of billions Bahts the government is going to lose...

And some people still insist the Coup was undemocratic.
The public and especially the parliament has a right to know how the Gov spents every single Baht.
Only dictators have secret deals. The way this gov behaves is undemocratic.

That sound more like a weapons deal not a rice deal.
Come on rice will not destroy national security.
    Let us see the facts.

"Fine details of the government-to-government rice sales are confidential and not for public release"
