Former parks chief launches political party

Damrong continues fight to save forests

Former National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department (DNP) chief Damrong Pidech has announced the establishment of a political party whose mission is to reclaim illegally occupied forest land.

Damrong: Champion of conservation

Mr Damrong, who has been known for his aggressive measures against forest encroachers during his tenure at the department, yesterday said his political party would push for policy makers to take serious action to protect natural resources.

    I wish him luck and hope he dose what he has set out to do. Unfortunately his chances seem slim because of the apparent apathy shown by most Thais and the elected government apparent self interest through involvement.
