Each rental station costs about 2 million baht to set up, and in return for the investment, the company is awarded the right to collect advertising fees at the bike rental stations.
Who would want to rent one as soon as you parked it somewhere, say to eat, it would be gone. How much does it cost the renter if the bike is stolen?
I see a Phuket jet ski scam coming to Bangkok

WOW sounds like a real money maker for someones pocket other than the silly person who would invest.

I hope they have plenty of back up bicycles to replace those not returned for various reasons one being the rider has been run over.

You can't even ride a bike in bangkok unless you nudge it out with the cars and motorcycles on the road.
