Isoc rebuffs South teacher transfer bid

Udomdej says religious faiths should co-exist

The Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) has rejected a proposal by a Narathiwat teachers' group to transfer Buddhist teachers out of high-risk schools in the far South.

They said people with different religious beliefs should be able to live together.

The proposal was raised by the Confederation of Teachers in Narathiwat on Wednesday. It followed the shooting of two teachers in the province this week.

In the last 3 months 3 politicians have supposedly been in control of this problem Chalerm the Pm and the defence minister its like pass the parcel and they are no better than children would be at addressing the problem.I suspect purely by its presence the army are exacerbating the problem. They have tried force and it has failed miserably so try the other method, compromise a little you never know it may work!!!

If that is the case, I wonder how many percentages of the current Govt's cabinet members are made up of Muslims? It is easy to talk the talk, but what's about walking the walk? Should leader lead by example?

The problem is that the army and authorities are not listening to the advice of academics and other specialists. If a fraction of the money used to militarize the region would have been spent on the local communities the problem would most likely have been solved by now.

GEOFFO I do not think the leaders are clueless, they know very well the reasons behind the violence. They do though want to keep people clueless and believing any nonsense that will avoid having to address the situation which, after all is one that has its roots in the 100 years old giving of the southern provinces to Siam by the British Empire.

This is exaggerated. The impact is limited to only in the 4 provinces. The problem is that the separatists have better intelligence. They know about us more than we know more about them.

thailand is 8th on the worlde list for terrorist, yet the chief of securities charlem said there is no terrorst in thailand, was this comment made before lunch or after,it again explain the lack of willingness and a plan of action, where this regime is in denial of the realities they face

D1: I'm afraid it is even worse. They perfectly know who is behind all this, but they don't do anything because the masterminds are not in Thailand. And working on an international level... my goodness, look at the mess on the national level.

According to Chalerm, there is no terrorism in the south but only criminal gangs. Under his supervision, this government is not able to fight and stop criminal gangs. He should take responsibility and resign.

Are people now saying this is a religious war. Wasn't the latest victim ,the young teacher, a Muslim .

This highlights the utter failure of leadership. After 8 years people in charge have no clue who they are fighting or why these people kill indiscriminately.

We have heard it is smuggling gangs, Islamist, Malaysian separatists and a mixture of all.

A General even came with a number like 9267 killers pretending he knew. That is the size of an Army Division. The logistics involving in managing that many would be impossible to hide. The leaders are clueless and worse than than that they are too proud to ask for help.
