TOKYO - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday left for Vietnam, the first of three countries making up his first overseas trip since he was selected as Japan's prime minister last month.
The four-day trip will begin today in Vietnam. He then will arrive in Thailand on Thursday, and will close out the trip in Indonesia.
Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the three countries are "part of the 'growth centre' of the 21st century to lead global economic growth" (sic).
