Ex-minister found dead in hotel

Sompat Kaewpichit, a former Chart Thai MP for Nakhon Pathom and former deputy agriculture and cooperatives minister in the Samak Sundaravej government, was found dead in a room of a hotel on Huay Kaew road in Chiang Mai on Sunday morning, reports said.

The report said the body of Sompat, wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, was found in the toilet. There were no traces of physical assault.

It was believed he died more than 24 hours ago.

In Latin America it is not uncommon to discover deceased elderly government officials in hotel rooms. It seems they undertake cardiac exercise stress testing with female cardiac lab assistants and pass or fail the tests, depending on your perspective.

    Disc5 - I always like -
    "Where's your restroom?"...
"Why? Are you going to take a rest?"

For those English speakers who are not so delicate as our American friends, the term "toilet" is very common for the room you guys call the bathroom (even thought there may be no bath!) or the washroom (even though there may be only a toilet in the room!). All these terms are inter-changable.

D2 I also wondered for a moment about him being found dead " in the toilet" , but I think they meant to write "in the bathroom"

Is it me or...? Khun Sompat was staying at a hotel since two days, together with a team of Nakhon Pathom municipality officials. It is believed he died 24h. before being found, after the team had left the hotel in the morning. Huh? So, the members of the team he was there with: didn't worry about him, at least 24h. after they last saw/heard anything of him? And they left without him, without seeing/hearing him, without making any inquiry?! Weird! Nice people he was traveling with for sure...

I know the Bangkok Post isn't renowned for it's succinct grammar. But this morning the subs appear to have taken a holiday and sitting on the beach.
"Ex Minister found death in hotel." Really? And then there's a myriad of other mistakes dotted around all the articles. Is anyone awake there in the newsroom?
