12 Lao prostitutes arrested

CHON BURI – Police raided an establishment that provided sexual services and arrested 12 Lao nationals working as prostitutes, reports said.

Police raided the premises, a restaurant in Sattahip district, about 1.30am on Monday after receiving a tip from a resident living in the area.

Twelve Lao women, aged 19-24, were found working there.

    Prostitution was made illegal in 1960. However, a 1966 law allows entertainment venues to offer "special services". Guess what those services involve.

    Charged for what? Prostitution is legal in Thailand and they ladies are not minors, unless they will be charged with illegal entry into Thailand or probably for competing with the local people in the trade.
