Yingluck to hold strategy meet ahead of ICJ battle

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will hold a key meeting on Friday to prepare for the upcoming court battle with Cambodia over the disputed land surrounding the Preah Vihear temple.

Ms Yingluck will meet Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul and the government's lawyers to plan strategy ahead of the hearings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), an army source said.

The meeting will be held at Government House and will also include Defence Minister ACM Sukumpol Suwanatat, Supreme Commander Thanasak Patimaprakorn, and the army, navy and airforce leaders, the source said. The national police chief and the Thai ambassador to the Hague will also be present.

The fugitive sold our land for personal benefits a long time ago.

Despite the fact that the French-drawn map was admittedly incorrect, the ICJ majority voted that it was the legal border. That was how Cambodia gained the temple. How can Thailand still claim ownership of the land on the "wrong side" of that border? Thailand lost the land in 1962. The ICJ is not now going to change that.

"We must be confident that we will not lose..." This is not a matter of winning or losing. That is the way the PAD - or whatever network name they adopt this time around - would like to position it as. It is merely an affirmation of previous agreements and decisions. There is political gains to be made by the PAD/Dems to seek out historical intersections they can exploit and incite for their purposes.
