maybe the soft drink company should sue the author of this story.

The title doesn't seem to match the facts. The aricle says. "A doctor on duty at the hospital said the woman died of heart failure caused by poor nutrition". "German dies of heart failure" would not sell newspapers, but soft drink overdose might, A poster last week said Bangkok Post was becoming a tabloid. He may have been on the right track. Remember the cop who took the UFO picture, etc...definitely tabloid direction.

Drinking only soft drinks over a long period of time 3 months can cause malnutrition and electrolyte imbalance leading to cardiac arrythmias and cardiac arrest. It's not that she drank too many over 3 months (an overdose),but that's likely all she ate or drank.Same if she drank only water for 3 months.

What a nonsensical and sensational headline.

After reading the article, on what grounds is it claimed she died from the soft drinks?

Just by saying something doesn't make it true.

Who comes up with these stupid conclusions? Let’s imagine a person would take hard drugs for years but within the last 3 months he would drink every day also a glass of fresh orange juice. I guess the headline for that case would be: “Regular orange juice kills druggy” – or something similar.
It’s bad enough that someone makes up these stories but it is even worse that they pass your quality control – do you have one?

You knows, 81 year old people sometimes just die. Lets hope her time in LOS was here best and that she really enjoyed the time with her son. Don't sue the soft-drink company.

After reading about all the problems of this poor women it is safe to assume that soft drinks did not kill her.
