Experts hose down hopes for amnesty

'Secret' talks dismissed as trivial

Political observers have dismissed Thursday's closed-door talks between red and yellow shirt leaders as trivial, saying the meeting made little headway towards achieving bipartisan support for political amnesty.

The two sides still have key differences of opinion on the issue that could make an amnesty deal impossible, they say.

Pheu Thai Party list-MP and red shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) core leader Korkaew Pikulthong met Parnthep Pourpongpan, spokesman for the yellow shirt People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), at parliament on Thursday.

The red-shirt leaders are MPs and hide in ministries.
The foot slodiers that followed their orders are now in jail and they demand amnesty. The demand for amesty is the same nonsense as their demand in 2010 for an immediate election. How can someone support such a leadership ?
But i guess when you got paid for protesting, then you will support the devil.

This will never end in a positive way. Because the people concerned still mix up reconciliation with amnesty. Of course, this has been intentionally arranged so by the puppet regime. No sane person would directly link reconciliation and amnesty. First, there has to be reconciliation, then there can be amnesty for the stupid followers, and then the instigators have to be hit by the full force of law!

One phrase troubles me, "Protest leaders who instigated unrest must be punished", exactly how do you define leaders? In some cases it is obvious, but there is also a grey area. Is the front runner in a mob a leader? Is the initiator/coordinator of a chant a leader? Is a pop star who speaks in support a leader?

A bunch of law-breakers sitting around saying "Hey, I know what we can do. Let's get the government to retrospectively make our law breaking activities legal. Wouldn't that be great!"
