Rab. - "The PM is genuinely concerned and trying to stop the killings."

Can you provide some evidence of this? Some action she personally has taken that verifies what you're saying?

    Two Issues with curfews

    1) How does a curfew stop attacks during the day?
    2) A curfew can be viewed by people that are sympathetic to the cause but not actively taking part in the insurgency as an oppresive act and may lead them to take a more active role

I would not rush to accept the advice of either the Americans or the Israelis, they may have experience of this type of conflict but their tactics at best maintain a status quo, neither are showing any sign winning against determined terrorists. The problem is the more you kill the more are recruited to the cause.

Live-fire zones could be set up on some Bangkok streets by AV government. So, not a big deal to impose curfews in some parts of the deep south, where killings of soldiers, teachers and other civilians had been taking place almost daily. In fact, AV government should have done that long ago.

D50 You mean identify them as the police identified the "drug dealers" back in 2004?

They supposedly KNOW who the leaders are but still can't find and catch them.

Your way could start a bigger fire than is burning there now ESPECIALLY in cases of "mistaken identity".

A curfew will be a complete waste. This group of amateur leaders a.k.a. PT have not got even the slightest idea of how to deal with this horrible situation as they are far too busy with populist schemes and scams which they are good at.

Disc 54, massein: Cobra Gold is a training exercise, not prepared/set-up to fight an insurgency.

Disc 12, nickjam: I would agree with you on using armored military vehicles instead of jeeps and trucks. I would also agree that superior miltiary tactics must be used to defeat an insurgency. It's easy to place blame on those involved in dealing with the issue, but to do so, proves nothing and does nothing to resolve the matter.
