PM: Dry weather a concern

The government is worried about dry weather that has hit many provinces and aims to develop plans to prevent it in the long term, says Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Speaking on the weekly "Yingluck Government Meets the People" programme on NBT, she said she discussed the situation on Friday with governors of 29 affected provinces and officials of various ministries.

"I directed the ministries to come up with a long-term plan for sustainable water resource management to ensure there would be sufficient water for household use across the country," she said.

Drought a big concern, then why extend Songkran so more water can be wasted? It should be shortened.

The last sentence says "Thailand will definitely be better in the next five years."
Why Thailand be better? Thai people can't feel or enjoy a lip service. Or is there really a drought going on now in those provinces? All the years that I've been here, I can't remember a rain fall at least from December to April of each year. It would be unusual for Thai to have rain fall on these months as everybody knows that these are the dry season .... What is this create a problem that does not exist and make a solution to none. hehehe

I must have been asleep when did the flood scheme start or dose it start and what is it.Who has designed it or is it still the Luddite mentality only the "Thai experts know" what is the best form of water management.Only problem is there track record is not so good is it.They have a lot of money to share around but no idea what to do with it except one thing and we know what that is.

Big budget allocated already for humidity problems, not more money for dryness.
Thai are always driven by their body temperature, they never think to make a vision !!!

"The single command system, proved to be effective in dealing with the great flood in late 2011".
I missed that one too in Bang Khae. Many people here apparently also missed the compensation promised by the Shinawatra dynasty, when they refused to pay 30 % to the kamnan/phujai baan.

The PTP have been waving their 350 billion baht "no more floods" cabinet decree in the air for a year and a half so far. And now it is going to solve the drought issue as well. It sure would be nice to see the actual specifications of the plan and a timetable as to when it WILL be implemented. After all this was authorized by the cabinet, bypassing Parliament, since it was an "urgent, emergency" need.

Mr Plodprasop does not have a good track record of caring for Thailand or Thai resources. He is the wrong man for the job to ensure correctness and completion. All the political favor pay-backs will result in long term suffering for the Thai people as Plodprasop has no experience in water management, drought or anything else; but plenty of experience with corruption. I predict Thailand will suffer long term drought, lack of household water and more floods in the future as the money mysteriously disappears. If Yingluck was serious to help Thailand, she would hire experts, not political favors.
