Sukumpol meets Tea Bahn at P.Vihear

PREAH VIHEAR TEMPLE – The meeting between Thai and Cambodian officials at Preah Vihear on Tuesday had no implications for the legal fight over the disputed area between Thailand and Cambodia, Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat said after the talks.

ACM Sukumpol led the Thai delegation for a luncheon meeting with his Cambodian counterpart, Gen Tea Banh, on the border at Preah Vihear, the site of an ancient Khmer-Hindu temple.

Both sides promised to respect the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) later this year, he said.

Why didn't Abhisit take care of this when he had the power? He wasn't capable then and he isn't now. All he has is an oppinion. However self serving it is.

My take on this is that the ICJ looked at the argument of both parties way back in 1962 and awarded the temple to Cambodia, logically assuming that the land would be part of the deal, however the Thai book of logic is somewhat different, impossible to understand at times, and the ICJ will eventually realise this and award accordingly, and hopefully learn a lot about the huge problems of dealing with Thai politicians,Thai mechanisms, Thai zenophobia etc.

    MEME educate us. Please.

What was the deal TS and "his friend KHMER ROUGE friend" made. Can you fill us in on the details? I for one want to know. Really. Tell us. Please.

To inform you of fact. Hun Sen defected from the Khmer Rouge and fled to Vietnam. Later, leading other Cambodian defectors, and backed up by the North Vietnamese army they OVERTHREW the Red Khmer.

So although Hun Sen is no beacon of democracy he did rid the Cambodians of the murderous Pol Pot and his henchmen.

If you want to know who gave Pol Pot safe haven for six years do some internet research. I know. And os should you.

The charades continue despite the fact that the fugitive made a deal with his eternal Khmer Rouge friend a long time ago.

    - "ACM Sukumpol said the meeting did not imply any recognition by Thailand that the disputed area immediately adjoining he temple was part of Cambodia."

That is a major part of the issue. If they both claim they will respect the October decision but Thailand still makes trouble about the adjoining land, this risks going on...and on...and on.
