Ministry staff grilled by DSI on cheating

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) yesterday began questioning Education Ministry staff on allegations of widespread cheating in a recent exam to recruit assistant teachers.

The interrogation team, led by Thanin Prempree, director of the DSI's corruption prevention and suppression centre, was formed at the request of Deputy Education Minister Sermsak Pongpanich.

Mr Sermsak said he received complaints that questions for the Jan 13 exam had been leaked one day before the test.

Whoever sit in the Exam and involved in the cheating scam, should ask him/herself a question: "Does he/she fit to be teacher in the first place?" Can anyone imagine what will the students turn out to be if they are to be taught by the such a 'cheating' teacher? Remember, how the future of the country (or world for that matter) is going to be, depend a lot on how the younger generations grown up to be. What a shame! The Authority should get to the bottom of this and punish those involved, heavy enough to discourage any recurrence of such scam in the Education System.

And still no comment on punishments for those found guilty either of cheating or facilitating the cheating. The last type of person the Thai education system needs are these morally bankrupt teacher aides and their helpers.
