EC delays endorsing Sukhumbhand's poll victory

The Election Commission yesterday delayed the endorsement of MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra's victory in the city governor election for 30 days, pending an investigation into complaints against him.

The EC decided by a vote of 3 to 1 to put off endorsing the governor-elect as proposed by the Bangkok election committee. The local election panel said it was investigating three complaints lodged against MR Sukhumbhand. One involved a message linking a rival candidate with political violence.

The endorsement would be suspended until the local panel concludes its probe.
