Court acquits Thanu of coal activist killing

The Appeal Court on Friday acquitted the convicted mastermind behind the killing of an activist who led protests against a coal-fired power plant project in Bo Nok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, almost a decade ago.

It also upheld the lower court's decision to acquit two other suspects of ordering the murder.

The ruling concerns the killing of Charoen Wat-aksorn, who was shot dead aged 37 at Bo Nok intersection in Muang district on June 21, 2004. He was a leader of protests against a coal-fired power plant proposed by Gulf Electric Co.

Needless to say... just another true example of "Amazing Thailand"! A perfect paradise to groom Godfathers, Crooks, Criminals, Politician (haha?), etc. etc. Just like in the Movie of the old days in New York City....my my my! D3, It sounds like you are the judge in the case or the relatives?! I am not sure the judge in the case qualify or FIT to be one at all! How can he goes to sleep at night? The simple Maths. doesn't add up at all, even a blind person can smell it!

'two suspected gunmen who died during their detention before the ruling'.

What an amazing coincidence! Old men were they? Another farce.

"The court also said the death of the suspected gunmen which had occurred during the Criminal Court's trial reduced the weight of their accounts." Sounds like an encouragement for defendants to "eliminate" all hostile witnesses. Amazing Thailand.

I read the article and then came to: "The ruling was based on the accounts of two suspected gunmen who died during their detention before the ruling."

Oh my. That's why the ruling.

Remember, even at their best, the justice system does not deal with the truth, but rather only what can be proven in court.

Re: D@1, Abbub, I continue to be fascinated by your 'obsession' with the 'reds' never even mentioned. Thailand is not headed anywhere; it tries to star the same, a deeply rooted place, for sure!

abbub: And why are lots of red shirts in jail? Because they took over major parts of Bangkok, terrorized the city for more than 2 months beating up and bombing and shooting soldiers and civilians and burned down parts of Thailand. Let them rot in jail.

The final sentence of the report says that the gunmen were unable to identify the accused. In any court in the world that is sufficient to dismiss the case, surely. Unfortunately, the poorly written report fails to explain how two supposedly healthy men died in custody. Convenience? Why doesn't the BP give a fuller report with ALL the facts?

Stand out for what is right and get a bullet in the head .Be a corrupt buffalo and be rewarded handsomely .Is this what we want children to learn .I pity them for having so few moral leaders to look up to .

D1,Abbub : I agree and clicked "like" on your comment, but just to be fair and to remind you red shirts of a few facts, here's an article from 27.12.2012 : "34 years jail for blinded PAD supporter".

So please tell me how are the cases against, for example,Sompong Bangchom and Surachai Thewarat progressing? And please drop the "they were innocent/politically motivated" nonsense, because they already confessed to your man Tarit and the Dubai directed DSI.

    Have a nice day.

Naturally the two killers died by accident, they probably accidentally smashed their heads in on the cell wall.
