The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation is studying the possibility of turning private resorts which encroach on national parks into state-owned properties and renting them out.
Department chief Manopas Huamaungkaew yesterday said his staff will discuss the legal aspects of the idea with related agencies to find a way to resolve the issue.
"We disagree with demolishing these beautiful resorts. It [adversely] affects the tourism industry. We have been studying how the country can benefit the most from this problem. Renting them out is one of the options," Mr Manopas said.
