Up to 700 pigs were killed in a fire that gutted a pig farm in Prachin Buri’s Nadee district on Sunday.
Firemen were called to Prasit Farm in tambon Nadee in the early morning where a fire was sweeping through two large piggeries. It took them about half an hour to contain the fire which killed most of the animals at the farm, the Daily News newspaper reported on its website.
Prasit Paoaumpa, the farm’s owner, said a total of 729 piglets and 50 out of 67 sows were killed in the fire. Several pigs that escaped sustained burns, he added.
