A Chiang Mai engineering lecturer and his wife on honeymoon in the United States were killed after being struck by lightning at a scenic overlook at the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona, authorities said.
The couple was identified as Aram Kawewong and his wife, Ratchaya Tantranon, both from Chiang Mai. They were both 30 years old.
Coconino County Sheriff's officials say the lightning bolt struck on Tuesday afternoon in the area of the LeFevre Scenic Outlook on state Route 89A in Fredonia. The couple's names were released on Friday.
