The House of Representatives yesterday passed a controversial amnesty bill in its first reading amid an outcry from the opposition.

A vote was called on the bill sponsored by Pheu Thai Party MP for Samut Prakan Worachai Hema even though only four out of 60 Democrat Party MPs who had signed up for the debate had a chance to discuss the bill.
