Rubber farmer's groups in the northern province of Nan and north eastern province of Buriram on Tuesday confirmed that they intend to join a nationwide rally against low rubber prices on Sept 3.
Nan rubber growers said they support southern rubber farmers currently protesting in Nakhon Si Thammarat, arguing that the government must step in to tackle low rubber prices as a matter of urgency.
They said the price of rubber should be at least 85 baht per kilogramme, adding that they were ready to join the planned Sept 3 nationwide rally. The government is currently only offering 80 baht per kilogramme.
