Opposition hands evidence of corruption in rice scheme to NACC

The Democrat Party submitted evidence of alleged massive corruption in the government's rice pledging scheme to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on Monday.

Democrat list-MP Ong-art Klampaibul and Warong Dechgitvigrom, Democrat MP for Phitsanulok, who represented the opposition, asked the graft fighters to investigate the allegations and officials involved. Those named include Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom.

The eight files of evidence handed to the NACC include the money trail from selling stockpiled rice which the opposition party claims benefitted "some people'' in the cabinet.

If the Dems actually had any real evidence of corruption then they'd be shouting the details to all. Instead we get a weak photo op with a couple of small envelopes. Kind of pathetic really.

Disc 4 _ You should know not to let facts get in the way of a good story.

So all the evidence of this massive corruption case is enclosed inside that small envelope.

well the regime has given themselves a week to clean up the mess and to provide new documentation to make sure its correct indeed ,but what they cannot upgrade is facts and the money trail, which the banks have endorsed,no doubt there will be some nervous people out there ?

Rangsit Klong 10 they just paved a side road along the klong that no one ever uses. They also painted the yellow stripe and installed reflectors all along the road. Highway grade street lights were installed. On this small, unused road, the only folks living there live in illegal shanties on the edge of the klong. Half of the other road that was paved has massive chunks broken off that have fallen into the water. No one has bothered to repair it. Blatant corruption even at the local level. BP should send reporters around to witness this corruption first hand. This project benefits no one except those that pocketed the money

What is needed is a tough, impartial inquiry into the administration of the rice pledging project which all sides can have confidence in. A difficult challenge which should nevertheless be attempted.

Foxes investigating the hen house. What a travesty of justice.

Letting PTP investigate it's own alleged sins with ANOTHER committee would be like a farmer
appointing a fox to guard the hen house.

"The government has claimed it sold five million tonnes of pledged rice to China under a G-to-G deal."

This is factually incorrect, the government said it had a memorandum of understanding between Thailand and China that would involve as much a 5 million tons of Rice at market prices.. The Chinese as of now has not even been named who will in China be the buyers.

"PM's Office Minister Varathep Rattanakorn on Monday said the prime minister had already demanded a probe on this issue and the investigation could be wrapped up next week".

Don't bother. We already know the result of this government initiated investigation. It's better to let NACC handle this.
