Thaksin backs senators over bills

Ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra and the Chartthaipattana Party have backed the move by 60 senators to submit three bills to amend the constitution by sections.

A source in the ruling Pheu Thai Party said yesterday Thaksin Skyped in to the party meeting yesterday and gave his support to the proposed amendment.

The source said the former premier felt amendments by sections were more realistic than changing the entire charter, which might run into legal problems with the Constitution Court.

The first section they should change is the way the court system is setup. All the courts administrative, criminal and constitutional should be under the Supreme court so that verdicts can be appealed to the highest court. This would stop the often strange unappealable verdicts handed out by the lower courts.

Disc 2 - Wrong, the Constitutional Court "recommended" that parliament should change section by section. Don't blame the PTP for the CC's decision (see above)

"The Democrat Party has announced its support for a proposal to amend the constitution section by section...the party agrees with a proposal to amend Section 237 of the constitution , which covers the dissolution of political parties and banning party executives from politics for five years...the party also supports an amendment to Section 190...the party also agreed that Section 265...should be changed...It also supports a change to Section 266..." - BangkokPost, 4/08/2012

@Contrarian and other Thaksin supporters, 'The Ms. Y.-Thaksin linkage is transparent, and was obvious to the voters. What is the problem?'.

The problem is the man is a fugitive criminal on the run from the law. Another arrest warrant already served and more cases against him a s a p, I hope.

No one is demonizing him : he did it to himself.

D3 Actually my comment about Mr T and his relationship with his sister is an observation. I think his behaviour is childishly obsessive.

He could discuss his views with her. She could then communicate these views to the party she heads. Instead he deliberately uses any means to demonstrate he is the boss at her expense. I first became aware of his behaviour toward Yingluck on her first day on the job. He tried to upstage her by holding a press conference in Japan as she was walking into Parliament. There is a pattern to his behaviour. If he left her to do her job and called his dogs off AV the country would be a lot better off.

Disc. #2 "BTW its is another public slap in the face for his Sister. He cannot resist any opportunity to put her down. Its a sickness don't you think"

Wow, all this venom, just for seeking compromise going forward.

Where does that come from. It amazes me how effective the "Thaksin demonization campaign to justify a coup" has been with some.

The Ms. Y.-Thaksin linkage is transparent, and was obvious to the voters. What is the problem?

Abhisit linkages on the other hand, are not transparent, and were not obvious to the voters.

Which way do you prefer, when you are in the voting booth?

The last election answered that question.

The source said Thaksin feared this could lead to the government's collapse. So amending it by stealth is the plan, section by section so no one notices

Note Mr T's paramount concern about doing the right thing for the country - oh you could not find any mention of that either.

BTW its is another public slap in the face for his Sister. He cannot resist any opportunity to put her down. Its a sickness don't you think.

Surely this should read Chartthaipattana's 19 MP's and 60 senators back Taksin's constitutional amendment
