A royal command has been issued reinstating Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen as deputy national police chief, effective from April 24, the Prime Minister's Office announced Monday.
The royal command, countersigned by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and published in the Royal Gazette, cited the Police Commission's decision to support Pol Gen Pongsapat's own request.
Pol Gen Pongsapat resigned to run as a candidate in the March 3 election for Bangkok governor under the banner of the Pheu Thai Party. He was not elected and subsequenty applied for reinstatement to the police force.
