Thailand being taken off FATF list of terrorism loopholes

The global intergovernmental Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has agreed to remove Thailand from its "grey list" following the passage of two bills to amend the Anti-Money Laundering Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo) secretary-general Sihanart Prayoonrat announced the decision on Wednesday.

The FATF earlier agreed to upgrade Thailand's status from "dark grey'' to "grey''.

Some years ago when I first went to bring some money into Thailand from overseas, I asked at the bank if there was any issue bringing a large quantity (for me) into the country and the lady behind the desk chuckled at me and told me that everyone knows Farang have a lot of money so no problem transferring in or out of Thailand. Nothing grey about that.

OK I understand "shades of gray" but Thailand needs to move forward with this for the sake of the business community.

"With Thailand being on the blacklist, Thai businesses found making international financial transactions much more difficult."

Remember: The Thai economy is export based!

Shade of grey is not a good book but rather socalled in Thai "staled water" novel(Nam Noa).It sell like hot commodity. It shows that human race still love some filthy therefore Thailand is not going to get out of grey list for a very long long period of time.

Off the "dark grey" list but still on the "grey" list. Shades of Grey is a good book but not a list that Thailand needs to be on.

Thousand shades of grey, dark grey or light grey are still grey. Have you ever heard the woman say I am little pregnant and later she is big blow up pregnant. you need just a little speck of germ to grow in petri dish. Its too soon for Thailand to congratulatte itself. Try to work harder. Don't ask the FATF to low the passing grade.

And Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo) secretary-general Sihanart Prayoonrat will resign if Thailand is not taken off the list, because he has failed in his duty and he has told a lie. Correct?

Good luck getting the final approval. There isn't a law in Thailand that actually gets enforced.
