Seven men suspected to be members of the gang that robbed Kasikornbank’s Palas branch in Narathiwat last month were detained after a clash with paramilitary rangers on Friday morning, reports said.
Soldiers from Rangers Company 4603, led by Maj Vichit Kongnoon, moved in on Ban Buenae Rayor in Narathiwat’s Rueso district about 7.10am after receiving a tip that Abdulrohing Dahisor, or Black Pele, one of the suspected bank robbers, was hiding there.
On seeing the rangers, armed men in a house and the nearby forest opened fire on them. The two sides exchanged gunfire for about 15 minutes, during which Mr Abdulrohing and members of his gang managed to escape.
