Bus rules enforcers on NY roads

NAKHON RATCHASIMA -- The Department of Transport in Nakhon Ratchasima province has set up three squads to enforce speed limits and other regulations on the large number of bus trips scheduled during the New Year celebrations.

The province is the gateway to the Northeast, and large crowds are expected to catch buses there to continue their journey to their hometowns.

Sira Boonthamkul, director of the provincial office of the Department of Transport, said a maximum speed of 110  kph will be enforced for bus drivers, and they will be restricted from driving in the outside lane, a report said.

This is better news. Its still too fast.I tell all my friends do not travel in Buses,Coaches and especially mini-buses,thier insane drivers who do not care about thier passengers and other road users. When my wife wants to go up country to Korat i always drive her there. When i do my visa runs i drive to the border myself because two of my friends where killed in a mini bus, through a bad fast driver.Last year i stopped at a police box to report a bad coach driver and they did stop him 10k up the road because i went past him again.

"maximum speed of 110 kph will be enforced for bus drivers, and they will be restricted from driving in the outside lane". I'll believe that when I see it. I had a license to drive coaches in the UK and the drivers here scare the life out of me.

Why does a city have a governor? Shouldn't it be a mayor?

Recently I took a van from Korat to Bangkok. Much of the time there were a dozen vans trying to pass each other for some bizarre reason which seemed to be to show who was the fastest and "best". They were weaving in and out of lanes recklessly.

At one point i wanted to tell the driver to stop and let me out. I would rather reach my destination ten or fifteen minutes later safe and sound than get there faster and very stressed.

Buses can be just as bad.
