Charter rewrite drama ready to unfold again

To push for a charter rewrite, the main tactic used by the Yingluck Shinawatra administration now is to keep testing the water to gauge public reactions. There have been news and rumours intentionally leaked by both the strategic committee under the Pheu Thai Party and by the charter amendment panel under the coalition government.

They offer different methods to push for charter change, the bill for which is now pending a third House reading.

Despite the efforts to wrap up the changes to the constitution rewrite, it is certain the the process will become a long-running drama.

The real failure is that in 2007 referendum the majority voted for this charter. Who should take a blame?

The 2007 Constitution as written is a train wreck. Komsan Pokong and his fellow charter drafters should hide their heads in shame for what they did - which was to set Thailand on a path of political and economic disorder. The faster a more democratic constitution is put into place, the better.

The last three paragraphs are the most pertinent to this argument. viz [Komsan Pokong] says claim that the current charter is undemocratic is only an excuse to do away with independent organisations which have been set up to monitor politicians closely.
If this wasn't such a big deal to certain politicians I'm sure there could be bi-partisan agreement on fixing the real 'undemocratic' part of the charter. Total re-write is just a ruse for 'whitewash', and if Peua Thai disagree, then how about setting up a panel selection process that isn't so stacked in their favour.
