Beneath the gimmicks, substance

Nobody punches Judy. Nobody _ at least not now. That's why Pongsapat "Judy" Pongcharoen is leading the latest Abac poll. And why not?

The Pheu Thai Party candidate is out-running his closest rival, MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra of the Democrat Party as far as form is concerned.

He gave a garbage collector a hand one day. Next, he drove a BMTA bus (without a driver's licence for public transport).

Bangkokians know if there are more populist policies coming in there will be no more space to walk on the pavements...and there will be more motorbike taxis asking higher fares...not all the people in Bkk could walk to bus stops, BTS and Undergroun MRT ...most people have to take a motorbike...and imagine how many of these mbike taxi drivers are from Bkk? you know who? They're going to squeeze people's necks for sure. Think of the fare paying a trip from inside a small lane which is not a walking distance to a bus stop or a station costs more than taking a bus which takes you twenty times farther...It is a big threat for poor commuters.

Style over substance. People fall for it all the time.

I can remember a time when my local council in England was controlled by Independents, now they are extinct, Councils are run by Conservatives, Liberals or Socialists. politics have become too expensive only billionaires can afford to be Independents.

Sad that here, as well as elsewhere, there is little room for a fresh face with good ideas. One has to be part of the establish machines to even have a chance. The best to be hoped for is that one of the opponents with the proper memberships will steal a good idea and later make it his own.
